ORGANISATIONAL STATEMENT ON RECENT CASES OF RAPE AND PEDOPHILIA INCIDENCES IN CAMEROON
It is with grave concern that we have witnessed a tremendous rise in acts of rape and pedophilic cases ravaging our Cameroonian society. Incidences as these should not be accepted, tolerated and being justifiable in our communities. Our women, girls, teens, adolescent, infants, toddlers have been going through inhumane and cruel treatment from hands of unscrupulous and ill-intention individuals within us. What is so devastating to these acts are that the perpetrators of such acts are the same persons whom at times are meant to protect these victims. In such circumstances we wonder actually where we are supposed to lean on for physical support and protection.
These acts which are gaining grounds in our communities even go to the extent of taking the victim’s life; a fundamental gift given to us by our Creator. It is therefore, in the STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS THAT OUR ORGANISATION,COMMUNITY CORNER FOR DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES (CCDI), CAMEROON

condemns such acts and call for justice to be accorded to those individuals and families whom have been directly or indirectly affected by the outcome and impact of such diabolic acts perpetrated on their loved ones. The recurrence of these acts have only made us to understand the growing levels of sexual abuse and other forms of violence being committed against women, girls and children which have been practices that have eaten into our systems like cankerworm for a very long time which have usually gone underreported and; others shaded in our family cupboards while being hidden from public view and attention. With the advent of media especially the new media (social) such acts are beginning to be brought to the limelight. All this simple reminds us that in as much as the government has the greatest responsibility on enacting measures with aim to deter and prosecute perpetrators of such acts, as individuals and a collective entity in our different professions, we have the additional duty of curbing the occurrences of such practices by being whistle blowers and ambassadors against violence in our communities. For we believe this is a fight not to be championed by an individual or entity but all hands must be brought on deck to report cases of rape, abuse and other forms of violence in the communities.
